Feminist Author & Activist, bell hooks, Passes Away (Dec. 15)
Reading of #bellhooks’ passing yesterday morning cut me deeply. I will miss her gentle voice, but, thankfully, I have access to her powerful words. Her classic works on love, feminism, and oppression have changed so many. The world is a better place because of bell hooks. Rest in our love.
Born Gloria Jean Watkins, hooks — whose pen name came from her maternal great-grandmother Bell Blair Hooks — wrote more than 40 books that made her “an international favorite loved by many,” her family revealed. Talking Back, Feminist Theory, All About Love, and Outlaw Culture were among my favorites.
